the HK Government & Press are showing an increasing awareness to the Community’s abhorrance of cruelty to animals and questioning of research practices

The following two links for articles (Call to protect Hong Kong’s animals after spate of poisonings and dog thrown from rooftop and Police hunt dog poisoner while Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam pledges better protection for animals) from the SCMP show that the HK people are not tolerating animal cruelty and expecting the SAR Government to increase action against cruelty to animals commensurate with the increased penalties for cruelty under Cap 169.

Users are reminded that they must comply with Cap 340 and the HK Code of Practice for the Care and Use of Animals for Experimental Purposes, because even within the HKSAR LegCo, the justification and humanity of research activity in the SAR has been questioned by the Hon Claudia Mo who wrote to the Secretary for Food and Health, Professor Sophia Chan, in the Legislative Council on March 21, 2018
